Belgian porphyry is an exceptionally hard and wear-resistant natural stone that has been quarried in the Rebecq region for centuries. Thanks to its hardness and durability, porphyry is ideally suited for applications that need to remain beautiful and strong for many years. For many years, Belgian porphyry was primarily used to make cobblestones. These Belgian cobblestones found their way far beyond our national borders and are also known internationally as “Belgian blocks.” The natural hues range from green and blue-gray to pinkish-green, giving the stone its distinctive character. At Nijst Natuursteen, we’re now opening up new possibilities for Belgian porphyry, from cobblestones and paving to facades and other outdoor applications. Belgian porphyry: strength with a rich history, crafted for the future.
