ITALIAN PORPHYRY

ORIGIN

Italian porphyry, a magmatic igneous rock of excellent quality, is a natural stone with a rich history and a unique appearance. This stone has been mined for centuries in the region of Trento and Brescia and is known for its
sustainability.

Italian porphyry differs from Belgian porphyry in its composition and color palette. The rock is very hard and durable. Since ancient times it has been used in Italy and the surrounding areas for the construction of roads, squares, etc. Porphyry is characterized by its pronounced colors of violet, rust and gray tones. It is available as cobblestone but also as flagstones, this on request. The violet-colored variety used for the tight facade bricks comes from a selected quarry, different from those used for cobblestones.

Because of its durability, resistance to wear and weathering and exceptional colors, Nijst Natuursteen has chosen to include this quality stone in its range. Italian porphyry is an excellent choice for both interior and exterior applications, where it retains its beauty for years.

The extraction of Italian porphyry is done with care for the environment and respect for the natural surroundings. Nijst Natuursteen has transport from Italy primarily by rail. This contributes to the durability of this beautiful natural material and ensures that future generations can continue to enjoy the beauty and versatility this beautiful stone in our regions.
