BELGIAN SANDSTONE (GRÈS)

ORIGIN

Belgian sandstone, better known as Belgian grès, is a high-quality sedimentary sedimentary rock with a beautiful color palette. The stone has different deposits as well as qualities. The schisty grits and the hard grits.

The schisty grès is suitable for decorative applications only. The hard gravel lends itself to facade work as well as paving. This hard grès has several varieties being the grès of the Condroz, the grès of the Meuse and the Famennian grès. This grès is especially loved for its beautiful colors. It possesses green, gray, ochre, brown and reddish nuances. When one places a whole of these stones one obtains a matchless palette of colors. The material is popular for realizing authentic quarry stone facades and detached walls, but also lends itself perfectly to sleek facade work. As paving, it is commonly found as cobblestone. Nijst Natuursteen uses only the hard grès in all the products offered from this type of stone.

Because of its high degree of durability, resistance to wear and weathering, Nijst Natuursteen has also devoted itself to processing this quality stone into unique products. Belgian grès is an excellent choice for both interior and exterior applications, where it retains its beauty for years.

The extraction of Belgian grès is done with care for the environment and with respect for the natural environment. This contributes to the
durability of this beautiful natural material and ensures that future generations can continue to enjoy the beauty and versatility of this Belgian bluestone.
